Back in the day (late 80’s to mid 90’s for yours truly), the never ending quest for a compact lighting kit for on location photo journalism made me a believer in John Falk’s book and philosophy “Adventures In Location Lighting“.

This is a small collection of images I have shot for magazine assignments back when I was shooting still images. Each title is linked to an image. These were shot with a consumer 3 megapixel point and shoot camera in a housing with a 100 degree wide angle lens. Nothing fancy on the equipment, but it did get the job done. These images were created while breath hold, or Freediving.

Over on Michael Rosenblums blog, a post was made discussing the conclusion of the Travel Channel Academy’s attendees camera choice.
And the winner was???
A consumer Canon HV20 HDV camera. This was selected over the larger SONY Z1U and Panasonic DVX100 prosumer cameras.
Now , I have been skeptical over the so called “NEED” to upgrade to HDV purely based upon the advertising spin doctors implying I needed to upgrade.

When I began to research this catch phrase “Video Journalist” last year, what little information out there was sparse at best. Then I happened upon David Dunkley Gyimah’s “Viewmagazine.tv” and low and behold, I found the mother load for what I was searching for.

Assignment: Product Demonstration Video for their newly released Titan D200 Housing for the Nikon D200 Digital SLR Camera.
Description: Light & Motion is an underwater housing and bike light company in Monterey, Calif. They contacted me after a series of self generated video podcasts I produced in late 2006 for my other site, UWDV.COM.
