Recently I was approached to bring my skills as an Immersive Video Journalist to a series related to the ocean realm being pitched to Chinese National TV. It would entail working in a Solo VJ manner - one presenter, one producer and myself shooting all content both above and underwater.

A recent IM6 (Integrated Multimedia 6 ways) presentation by my colleague and friend, David Dunkley-Gymiah prompted me to think about where my fellow newspaper photo-j shooters are going with their transition to shooting video.
And how they may be missing a unique opportunity to be true to themselves, to their craft and to their viewers.

The recent portfolio project I completed on the volunteer freediver at the Oregon Coast Aquarium has me some what confused and to a certain extent, frustrated and discouraged as to which version of the story is so called “correct”.
When I completed the first version, some critiques said I should have added an audio narration to introduce the story. So I revised it to reflect those recommendations.

The newspaper & solo vj detractors are at it once again.
I discovered a recent Apple marketing video showing some of the inner workings of The Washington Post’s integration of multimedia as a part of their adapting to declining market conditions affecting print news media.
