Cybermentor and colleague David Dunkley-Gyimah was recently asked what is videojournalism. He professed to being somewhat tongue tied to the question.
The pundents would have you believe it’s some lengthy diatribe that includes financially prohibitive schooling and equipment that only a select few are capable of becoming a part of the exclusive club of videojournalism.
Sorry folks, that’s not the case.
David has created a page that breaks down (from his experience) what it means to be a VJ - I read it this morning and realized he is describing the Solo VJ paradigm. I think David has taken a slightly different path in his definition of VJ’ism, but it still applies more so than ever.
Read his full discourse here and apply it to what you see yourself doing as a solo video journalist.
